2 Nights till Morning

Synopsis

French architect Caroline (Croze of THE BARBARIAN INVASIONS) and Finnish musician Jaakko connect at a hotel bar in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius and wake up in bed together the next morning: no fuss, no strings, no commitments. But, when a volcanic ash cloud from Iceland delays Caroline’s flight out indefinitely, the pair are compelled to reevaluate their relationship — just a one-night stand, or something less ephemeral? Other questions accumulate: What really happened that first night together? Why did Caroline lie about not being able to speak English? And what about the significant others they speak to on their cell phones? There are echoes of BEFORE SUNRISE and LOST IN TRANSLATION in this romantic tale of two strangers in a foreign city, but director Kuparinen (BODY FAT INDEX OF LOVE) — with a keen sensitivity to textures, nonverbal communication, and the limpid sunlight of Vilnius — contributes a fresh perspective on the slippery nature of love in a borderless modern world. Winner of the Best Director Award at the Montreal World Film Festival. In English, Finnish, and French with English subtitles.
