French TV Shows Seduce U.S.Networks

With subtitles in English, Braquo was broadcast by MHZ Worldview and is now available on Hulu. Borgia was also broadcast on cable, by Showtime, not to be confused with The Borgias, its namesake from Quebec. The more recent and more publicized, Les Revenants, has made its debut on Sundance Channel with great success, and is also available on Netflix. This series has also been adapted into English by A&E networks. The broadcasting of this remake (The Returned) began in late March.

If you are into French TV, you can also enjoy on VOD Maison Close (iTunes and Google Play) and Engrenages (Spiral) on Netflix. The latter will be adapted by Showtime.

A French village can now be viewed in the United States as well. The series is broadcast by MHZ Networks and MHZ Worldview on Sunday evening; The episodes are also available on the VOD platform MHZ Choice. The series that chronicles the life of those in a small village in the Jura during the four years of Nazi occupation has been broadcast in France since 2009. The seventh and final season is expected in the fall.
Finally, the mini-series by Bruno Dumont, Li’l Quinquin, acquired by Kino Lorber for a theatrical release in the United States will be on TV5 Monde USA, beginning May 12.
